Registered Charity Status

Madness Against Malaria 2010 is an initiative of the Against Malaria Foundation, a charity registered in the UK, US, Australia and a number of other countries.

The Foundation was set up in August 2004 with the explicit aim of handling the money raised through World Swim Against Malaria. Since then Against Malaria has launched a number of other initiatives and has developed a significant number of fundraising partnerships whereby groups raising funds for nets, often for their own distributions, raise funds through Against Malaria. We do not take a cut or a fee so 100% of the funds these groups raise buys nets for them.

As stated in the Articles of Association of the Foundation, the official document describing our purpose, our aims are:

"...the relief of suffering from malaria by the provision of funds for the prevention and/or treatment of malaria and the advancement of education in the subjects of a) the problems and suffering caused by malaria and b) what can be done to alleviate them."

More specifically, 100% of the money we receive buys long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets (LLINs). Via distribution partnerships, these nets end up over heads and beds and we demonstrate that has happened (see Our approach).

Australia

The Against Malaria Foundation (Australia) Ltd is a charity established in Australia. Our Australian Company Number (ACN) is 120 213 701. The Australian Business Number (ABN) is 72 120 213 701. The foundation has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office to access charity tax concessions.

  

Belgium

Against Malaria (Belgium) ASBL is a registered non-profit association (association sans but lucratif), number 894.651.190.

Canada

"The Against Malaria Foundation (Canada) / La Fondation Against Malaria (Canada)" is a registered Canadian charity. We have donee status which means individual donations are tax deductible. Our charity business number is 834775967RC0001.

  

Germany

Against Malaria (Belgium) ASBL is a registered non-profit association (association sans but lucratif), number 894.651.190.

Ireland

The Against Malaria Foundation (Ireland) Limited is a registered company and charity in Ireland, company number 424597, charity number CHY 17455.

  

Italy

"Fondazione Against Malaria O.N.L.U.S." is registered in the ONLUS Registry.   The foundation is therefore entitled to profit from the tax advantages provided by Italian law.

Japan

We are certified to act as an NPO in Japan.

  

Netherlands

Against Malaria is a registered Foundation (Stichting) in The Netherlands, number 34236793. The Dutch tax authority has declared that it will treat the Stichting as a charity institution.

New Zealand

Against Malaria Foundation (New Zealand) is a tax exempt organisation under section CW 34 of the Income Tax Act 2004. IRD number 94-357-039. The Foundation is now included in section KC 5(1) of the Income Tax Act 2004 which lists the organisations that qualify for charitable donee status. The Foundation is registered with the Charities Commission - number CC 10808.

  

South Africa

The Against Malaria Foundation is a tax exempt organisation and registered as a Public Benefit Organisation number 930 018 615. Donors are entitled to tax relief on donations made.

United Kingdom

The Against Malaria Foundation is a charity registered in the UK and governed by the laws of England & Wales. Our registered charity number is 1105319.

  

United States of America

The Against Malaria Foundation is registered as exempt from federal income tax and exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code - federal identification number 20-3069841. In addition, where appropriate and in order to comply with local legislative fund-raising requirements, the Foundation is also registered at state level.
