MALARIA FACTS: - Malaria kills 1-3 million people annually. - Deaths predominantly occur in children under five years of age and pregnant women. - Approximately 90% of deaths occur in Africa. - 500 million people per year get malaria. When people are sick with malaria they have a hard time working and drag down their caregivers/family members. ONE MILLION FACES We are doing this to highlight that we no longer can tolerate living in a world where between one and three million people die from what should be an easily preventable disease. We are attempting to get one million facebook members to join our "one million faces against malaria" group to show the world what one million faces (and smiles) look like. We need your help in reaching this goal because to achieve one million faces we need to get a new member every 30 seconds (every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria). Viewed another way every day between 2,740 and 8,220 people die of malaria even though it is completely preventable so we need >3,000 people every day to sign up. If you are interested in helping to prevent death from malaria please spend five dollars to purchase a bednet at http://www.againstmalaria.com/en/Fundraiser.aspx?FundRaiserID=394 100% of the money contributed on this page will be donated to buy a bednet, which can protect two people from malaria.
